          Short answer: yes. Very much so.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Recently, we had a John Deere 5720 come into the workshop with a complaint of noisy and ineffective brakes. At first glance, it sounded like a fairly routine brake issue, but as soon as we removed the trumpet housing, the cause became clear almost instantly.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Let’s just say… it didn’t take Sherlock Holmes long to crack this one.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          What We Found
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          On strip-down, we discovered that the friction lining on one of the brake discs had completely separated from the disc itself. With the lining gone, the metal backing plate had been running directly against the brake piston.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The result?
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Severe scoring to the brake piston
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Extensive internal damage
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           A braking system that was never going to perform as it should
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          While we were in there, we also removed the handbrake discs for inspection, and it’s a good job we did. They were well past their best and heading in the same direction.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          At this point, the obvious question was why. So, What Caused It?
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          We can’t say with absolute certainty what caused the failure, but based on what we saw and our experience, we have a very strong suspicion. The wrong oil.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          And that got me thinking. 'This would make a good blog case study'. So, here we go…
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          "Does the right oil really matter?"
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Why Oil Choice Is Critical in Modern Tractors
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          On older machines, oil choice was often a little more forgiving. Today’s tractors are a different story altogether.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Modern tractors like the John Deere 5720 rely on one oil to do multiple jobs, including:
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Lubricating the transmission
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Operating the hydraulic system
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Cooling and protecting internal components
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Providing correct friction characteristics for wet brakes and clutches
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          That last point is the key one here.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Wet brake systems are designed to work with oils that contain specific friction modifiers. If the wrong oil is used, even if it’s a “good quality” oil, those friction properties can be completely wrong for the system.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Over time, this can lead to:
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Brake chatter or noise
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Reduced braking performance
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Overheating
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Premature wear
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;

           Brake linings breaking down or delaminating (exactly what we saw here)
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          “But It’s Still Oil, Isn’t It?”
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Unfortunately, not all oils are created equal.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Using an oil that almost meets the specification, or is intended for a different application, can slowly cause damage that isn’t immediately obvious. The tractor may continue to work, but internally, things are deteriorating.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          By the time symptoms show up, the damage is often already done.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The Cost of Getting It Wrong
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          In this case, what could have been avoided with the correct oil has resulted in:

           Brake disc replacement
          &#xD;

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Brake piston damage
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Additional labour
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Increased downtime
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;ul&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Always use the oil specified by the manufacturer
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           If in doubt, ask, don’t guess
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Be cautious of mixing oils or topping up with “whatever’s to hand”
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           Regular servicing isn’t just about filters, oil choice matters just as much
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

      <title>How Often Do You Grease Up?</title>

          We see all sorts come through the workshop, from well-looked-after, showroom-condition tractors to others that are, well, less showroom-condition. We get it. Tractors are workhorses, tools that make everyday jobs easier. And in fairness, most of those workhorses are looked after reasonably well.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          But one simple job is often overlooked: greasing.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          A quick check over with a grease gun can make a huge difference. It’s not a magical cure, and it won’t stop parts from wearing forever, but regular greasing does slow wear, protects seals, and significantly extends the life of key components, saving downtime and costly repairs further down the line.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Recently, we had a Kubota M5111 with a front loader in our workshop for servicing and repairs. While carrying out the service, our technician lifted the front axle to change the oil in the final drives. That’s when excessive movement was noticed, along with a steering joint that was very close to failing (Something you definitely don’t want to discover while travelling down the road). 
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          With the front axle lifted, the components were stripped down for inspection. It quickly became clear that a lack of regular greasing had allowed dirt and moisture past the seals. Over time, this had caused severe wear to the bushes and swivel pins. The wear was so bad that the swivel casting itself had been damaged, and both sides would need to be replaced. At this stage, simply fitting new bushes would have been pointless. 
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          This is where preventative maintenance really proves its value. The constant pushing, lifting, and turning required for loader work significantly increases the load on the tractor’s front axle, steering system, pivot pins and bearings, making regular maintenance essential. Regular greasing and inspections would have significantly slowed the wear. Instead, what could have been a straightforward maintenance job turned into a much larger and more expensive repair.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Preventative maintenance doesn’t just save money, it improves reliability, reduces downtime, and keeps machines safe to operate. A few minutes with a grease gun can genuinely make the difference between a machine staying productive or ending up off the road and in the workshop.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

          Your support, whether through repairs, servicing, parts, or machinery sales, has kept us flat out all year long. And truth be told, that’s exactly how we like it. Every tractor in the workshop, every machine out on demo, every phone call and message… it all adds up, and we’re grateful for every bit of it.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

          This year has brought us a bit of everything: full services and major overhauls, transmission rebuilds, electrical fault-finding, engine strip-downs, clutch jobs, differential repairs, front axles rebuilt, and plenty of new machinery heading out the door. There’s been no shortage of challenges, but that’s what keeps the job interesting.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Even with all that, the real highlight has been working with you, our customers, neighbours, and local farming community. Your support and trust in our work truly means the world to us.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

          We’ve got plenty more lined up for next year, with new kit coming in, some exciting workshop projects on the go, and lots more ways we hope to support your farms and businesses.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

          Why a Cab-less Tractor?
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The customer uses the tractor inside polytunnels, where space is tight, and manoeuvrability is everything. A tractor with this horsepower, size, and the ability to work safely under cover without a cab roof catching or restricting movement is a rare and valuable tool.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Rather than replacing it, the owner chose to invest in a full rebuild, extending its working life for many years to come.
         &#xD;

          Essential for quick directional changes, especially in confined spaces, the shuttle clutch pack was fully rebuilt for crisp, dependable engagement.

          The old fenders were damaged and tired, so a brand-new set was fitted to improve safety and appearance.

          A fresh set of panels not only sharpens the look but also protects vital components from dust, rain and debris, vital for a tractor with no cab to protect it from the elements.

          The rear linkage system was completely rebuilt using new components throughout, restoring accuracy and lifting performance.

          We recently had a customer’s MF 390 in for clutch issues, but, as often happens with older machines, the visit turned into much more worthwhile preventive maintenance.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Clutch Replacement
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The tractor was struggling to engage properly, so our first job was to fit a new 13" clutch plate, along with a new flywheel, and fresh clutch bearings and bearing carrier.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          These parts are essential for smooth operation, especially on a machine that handles daily, heavy farm work.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Replacing these components ensures:

          Fuel Pump Replacement

          While it was in the workshop, we noticed the fuel pump was leaking diesel — a common issue on older tractors.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          To prevent:

          The pump had been on there for a few thousand hours, so the best thing to do is to fit a brand new fuel pump, solving the leak and improving running quality at the same time.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Full Engine Service
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          With the tractor already split and on the ramp, this was the perfect opportunity to carry out a full engine service.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          We fitted:

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
           New fuel filter
          &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/ul&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Routine servicing is one of the best ways to extend the life of older tractors, keeping them dependable through every season.

          Speed-Shift Fault
         &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          At JJ Farm Services, we believe in doing the job right, and that starts with a proper diagnosis. One of our recent workshop jobs was a Massey Ferguson 398 that had lost its Speed-Shift function. Here’s how we identified the problem and carried out a reliable repair.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Step 1: Starting with the Basics
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Before we get into any major strip-down, we always begin with the simple checks. The first step was to inspect the hydraulic system, making sure the clutch pack was receiving the correct pressure. Without that pressure, the Speed-Shift can’t engage, but in this case, everything was spot on.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Step 2: Electrical Checks
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          Next, we turned our attention to the electrical side. A faulty solenoid or wiring issue could easily cause Speed-Shift failure. We tested the solenoid and confirmed that it was operating correctly. With both hydraulic and electrical systems working as they should, we were left with one conclusion…
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Step 3: Internal Fault – Time to Split
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          The issue had to be internal. That meant splitting the tractor to access the Speed-Shift unit — not a small job, but necessary to get to the root of the problem. Once inside, the fault became clear: a failed Belleville spring. This small but crucial component had given out, causing the loss of function.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          Step 4: Repair and Replace
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          With the Speed-Shift unit removed, we ordered the necessary replacement parts, including a new Belleville spring. While we had it apart, we also fitted a fresh set of friction plates. Preventative maintenance like this is a smart move, no point putting worn parts back in when everything's already open.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

          Recently, our workshop welcomed a Massey Ferguson 7618 for a scheduled transmission repair and service. What started as a routine job soon highlighted the importance of preventive maintenance – and why small issues left unchecked can lead to costly downtime.

          The Service &amp;amp; What We Found

          After carrying out the service and running the engine, our technician noticed that the tractor wasn’t reaching its optimal operating temperature. Instead, it was running cold – a clear sign that something wasn’t right.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

          The most likely cause? Faulty Thermostats.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The Outcome
         &#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          With replacement parts fitted and the system flushed, the tractor was soon repaired and back to work. Thanks to catching the issue during a service, downtime was limited to just a couple of days – far less than the costly delays that can come from ignoring coolant maintenance.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          The Takeaway

          Following on from the success of our previous Calendar Competition, we are pleased to announce that we will be running the competition again. 
          &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
          We are keen to get you involved in our 2023 calendar and will select 13 of our customer's photographs to showcase.
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           
          &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
      
          This year we’re looking for scenic shots of our lovely local area, so far this year we’ve seen striking sunrises and sunsets, fabulous farming shots, and even some snow!
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           
         &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

          The winning 13 photographers will receive 2 copies of our calendar, and an A3 size canvas print of your winning photo!

          We are also happy to take orders over the phone and leave boxes/bags with parts outside for collection by yourself.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

          Our Service department will continue to operate as normal, with increased awareness to cleanliness when working. Our maintenance and breakdown cover will remain the same, but appropriate precautions will be taken.

          We had so many amazing photos from you all that it made this years selection once again, very difficult.
